Has anyone read Paula Span’s book When The Time Comes? In it, Span examines the way in which 12 families navigate their respective eldercare decisions. This is a great read for families currently dealing with aging issues but also a wonderful resource for those who are looking to proactively tackle issues of aging. Span, a contributing reporter at The Washington Post, tells the stories of these 12 families contemplating everything from assisted living to hospice to home health aids. The book also has a resource list and data on aging but most importantly it presents a wide-range of well-written stories that should resonate with readers going through this process.
Span will be in the SF Bay Area in the beginning of July. Go to her website for details on her speaking engagements in Danville, Mountain View and San Francisco.

I have only read the excerpt of the book in the Washington Post that came out in the health section. Thanks for spreading the word about when she comes to SF. I’ll try and finish the book beforehand so I can ask her questions. – SES
