100 years old and still directing films!

Manoel de Oliveira  is 100 years old and will be 101 this December! In fact, he has made at least one film each year since he was 82! Born in Porto, Portugal on December 11, 1908, Oliveira has won multiple honors at Cannes, Venice and at many other festivals. He keeps on making films because he loves it.

You don’t have to make films like Oliveira to stay engaged. Cinephiles, even those elders who are  homebound, don’t have to watch films alone. These isolated seniors and older adults can have an Activity Specialist from Engage As You Age teach them how to edit films on a computer, swap stories about their favorite films, share some laughs debating about directors or even have someone talk to them about the history of film. Engage As You Age can keep elder cinephiles connected to their passions!

Oliveira’s first film, Douro, Faina Flavial, was made in 1931 and he’s made 48 films since then! He’s currently working on two films in 2009 (both of which are in pre-production).
