On September 16th, the Institute on Aging is sponsoring a program on Capacity: What is it? How do we assess it? What happens when we lose it?
The program description states that: “This program will provide an overview of decision-making capacity in older adults. Focusing on financial, medical, cultural, legal and ethical topics, presenters from a wide range of disciplines will examine the difficulties that surround the issue of capacity.”
This program resonates with Engage As You Age as many of our clients, often the “children” of aging parents, have a hard time figuring out when the appropriate time is to step in and make decisions for the aging parents. Some do it themselves while others seek out professionals who are working in the field of aging. Oftentimes case managers, geriatric care managers, fiduciaries, conservators, therapists, case workers, therapists and other professionals help them. Whether you’re a professional in the aging industry or someone unexpectedly thrust in a reverse parenting role, this presentation might be of interest to you.
