Lives in Great Falls, Montana, can still remember his grandfather talking about the Civil War and recently turned 112! CBS’s Steve Hartman recently went to Great Falls and interviewed the still engaged and articulate Walter Breuning. Although he lives in an assisted living facility, Breuning, needs minimal assistance. In fact, he runs errands on his own on a weekly basis.
Some other interesting tidbits about Breuning include that…
- he is the only living American born during the Cleveland administration.
- he still remembers exactly where he was an what he was doing when President McKinley got shot.
- he signed-up to serve in WWI but was never selected. He was too old to enlist in World War II!
- he has been widowed for more than fifty years and never remarried
