Helen Hooven Santmyer published her best selling book at 88! In fact, And Ladies of the Club was a #1 New York Times bestseller.
The book came out in 1984, 68 years after she began attending Wellesley College in 1918. Between college and And Ladies of the Club, Santmyer wrote poetry that appeared in the anthology The Bookman Anthology of Verse and published 3 other novels: Herbs and Apples, Ohio Town and The Fierce Dispute.
